The first image he posted is a nostalgic snapshot from the recording of the timeless song ‘Ek Din Bik Jayega’, an iconic track featured in Raj Kapoor's film 'Dharam Karam'.
This memorable photo captures the essence of Hindi film music, showcasing legends like Raj Kapoor, S.D. Burman, his son R.D. Burman, music arranger Manohari Singh, actor Randhir Kapoor, and Sushma Shrestha (known as Poornima).
For those unaware, one rendition of ‘Ek Din Bik Jayega’ was performed by Sushma Shrestha alongside R.D. Burman.
Kunal expressed his deep appreciation for Sushma Shreshta in a lengthy caption, referring to her as his guardian angel.
He wrote, “Wishing the happiest birthday to my beloved Sushma Shreshta Didi today and every day. Thank you for being God’s chosen fairy godmother to me and for passionately guiding me to major film and advertising studios during the early 90s. You introduced me to renowned composers like Anand Milind ji, Mr. Anu Malik, Mr. Aadesh Srivastav, dear Ranjit Barot, Louis Banks & Leslie Lewis, which provided me with extraordinary opportunities during my challenging times because of your unwavering belief in my talent and unique voice.”
The second image featured Sushma Shreshta, who is affectionately known by her stage name Poornima.
He continued, “I can never express my gratitude sufficiently for everything you’ve done for me and for single-handedly bringing me into the professional music world, as being with you allowed me to experience the vibrant atmosphere of esteemed studios, which was a significant learning curve. Studios like Film Centre, Bombay Lab, Mehboob Studios, Sunny Super Sound, Sahara Studios & Western Outdoor were places where merely getting access took a lifetime.”
Kunal acknowledged her as a source of confidence and support during a time when he was unknown and embarking on his musical journey.
“You welcomed me into your home when it was late to return. I was treated like one of your children, as an older brother to them. I can never repay you for your kindness. I remain eternally grateful. Importantly, the featured image in this post is from the legendary recording of ‘Ek Din Bik Jayega’ from Dharam Karam, created by the iconic Raj Kapoor ji, along with the great S.D. Burman, the legendary R.D. Burman, esteemed musician and arranger Manohari Singh ji, chief engineer Kaushik Baba ji from Film Centre at Tardeo, and Randhir Kapoor ji alongside Sushma didi.
