Mumbai, Feb 24 (NationPress) Director Kunal Kohli, currently receiving acclaim for his streaming film 'Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story', expresses his enjoyment in navigating the realm of uncertainty, advocating for a release of control at pivotal moments during the creative process.
In a recent conversation with IANS, Kunal highlighted that the element of surprise is arguably the most beneficial gift an artist can receive, significantly aiding their development.
He remarked to IANS, “Nobody knows anything. Every day on set presents new challenges. An actor may pose even the simplest inquiries for which you might lack a response. Conversely, you could find it difficult to articulate a complex idea, yet the actor may effortlessly embody it.”
He elaborated, “Then you find yourself contemplating, ‘Okay, I’ve accomplished this. What more can I explore? How might I approach this differently?’ Often, the true enjoyment lies not in the spoken lines but in the nuances between them. The silences are where the finest performances emerge.”
He further emphasized that post-dialogue expressions and silence are integral to acting.
“Acting transcends merely reciting lines. It encompasses the moments before and after delivering those lines. That’s crucial. Therefore, planning is futile; sometimes, unanticipated moments on set become significant. These occurrences can’t be orchestrated,” he added.
Kunal also shared his views on the rapidly advancing technology in filmmaking, advocating for artists to welcome these advancements instead of shying away from them.
He stated to IANS, “Technology has been beneficial in every aspect; on set, you can preview edits if needed. This is a rather antiquated approach I’m referring to. Nowadays, visual effects can be reviewed on set, providing a preliminary output.”
