Hyderabad, June 25 (NationPress) The creators of director Mukhesh Kumar Singh's devotional epic 'Kannappa', starring Vishnu Manchu in the lead role, have publicly warned that any misuse, distortion, or defamatory actions against the film or its stakeholders will be met with legal action.
The production company, 24 Frames Factory, noted in their announcement that 'Kannappa', set for release on June 27, is a product of a lawful, legitimate, and creative endeavor.
They emphasized that their film was crafted with care to connect with a wide audience, urging critics to “experience the film first, appreciate its depth, understand its purpose, and then comment responsibly, rather than yielding to premeditated biases or vendetta-driven remarks.”
While acknowledging the importance of freedom of speech as enshrined in Article 19(1)(a) of the Indian Constitution, the makers clarified that intentional and harmful attacks, whether physical or reputational, are not protected speech but rather actionable offenses, and they intend to pursue legal recourse if necessary.
Highlighting a recent ruling from the Delhi High Court that upheld the personality and publicity rights of key stakeholders and lead actors Mohan Babu and Vishnu Manchu, the production warned that any attempts to damage their image or persona could lead to legal consequences under current court directions and applicable laws.
The production house further stated, “Considering past disturbances during the film’s production, we remain alert. Any individual or entity engaging in baseless, defamatory, or wrongful display or streaming of the film, whether in part or whole, will face legal proceedings in all competent jurisdictions, including civil, criminal, and cyber. Such actions will be fully at the risk of those involved.”
Directed by Mukhesh Kumar Singh, 'Kannappa' features Vishnu Manchu as the titular character, a brave warrior turned devotee of Lord Shiva. Akshay Kumar portrays Lord Shiva, while Mohanlal takes on the role of Kirata, and Prabhas delivers a memorable performance as Rudra.
In previous statements, Vishnu Manchu expressed, “This film is profoundly significant to me. It brings to life a historical narrative often regarded as mythology. With Lord Shiva’s blessings, everything has aligned perfectly, from the stunning locations to the amazing cast.”
Director Mukhesh Kumar Singh remarked, “‘Kannappa’ transcends mere storytelling; it honors faith, devotion, and the essence of transformation. Each frame has been meticulously designed to present this legendary saga in a way that resonates with contemporary audiences while honoring its origins. We are eager for viewers to witness the magnificence of ‘Kannappa’.”
