Mumbai, Jan 20 (NationPress) Esteemed actress Lillete Dubey, who portrayed the beloved character Aunty Rose in Shyam Benegal's film 'Zubeidaa', expressed that this role remains one of her all-time favorites as the film celebrates its 25th anniversary of release.
To commemorate this significant occasion, Lillete shared a touching message on social media, reflecting on the delightful experiences she had while filming under the direction of Shyam Benegal alongside her remarkable co-stars, including Amrish Puri, Karisma Kapoor, Rekha, Manoj Bajpayee, Surekha Sikri, Rajit Kapoor, Farida Jalal, and Shakti Kapoor.
Her Instagram post read, "Someone reminded me today that it's been 25 years since 'Zubeida' was released... My first film... How fortunate I was to work with the exceptionally talented and charming Shyam Babu! Memories flooded back as I recalled the joy I felt during the shoot alongside such incredible co-stars, including the legendary Amrish Puri (sic)."

The film, released on January 19, 2001, is the concluding chapter of the trilogy that began with 'Mammo' (1994) and 'Sardari Begum' (1996) and is based on the life of the tragic actress Zubeida Begum, who was married to Hanwant Singh of Jodhpur and was the mother of the film's writer, Khalid Mohamed.
