Mumbai, Jan 21 (NationPress) Producer and music titan Bhushan Kumar has disclosed the rationale for the film's utilization of an altered rendition of the classic song ‘Sandese Aate Hain’.
During a special gathering for the film held on Tuesday in the city, he explained that ‘Border 2’ addresses a distinct battle within the framework of the India–Pakistan war of 1971.
Kumar stated to the press, “We had already decided to include ‘Sandese Aate Hain’ in the film, and the lyrics have been modified to fit the narrative, as the storyline we are presenting is not a remake of ‘Border’. It is set against the backdrop of the 1971 war and explores a different battle, highlighting the experiences of other soldiers. The lyrics were crafted accordingly, which is why we collaborated with Manoj Muntashir for the new version.”
‘Border 2’ is intended as a sequel to J. P. Dutta’s 1997 hit ‘Border’, which portrayed the Battle of Longewala during the 1971 India–Pakistan war. The sequel has been officially confirmed and is being developed as a large-scale patriotic drama, aiming to recapture the essence and military emphasis that made the original film a cultural touchstone.
‘Border 2’ chronicles the Battle of Basantar, a crucial engagement that took place during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 in the western region of India. The Indian forces emerged victorious in this grueling contest, securing territory in the Punjab and Jammu sectors.
The film is helmed by Anurag Singh, renowned for ‘Kesari’, and it promises to blend battlefield authenticity with character-focused storytelling.
Production is expected to be a collaboration between J. P. Dutta’s production house and prominent studio support, indicating a significantly larger budget and modern production standards.
