New Delhi, Aug 15 (NationPress) Producer Nidhi Dutta asserts that the essence of patriotism is both timeless and eternal. She is confident that the forthcoming war film “Border 2” will rekindle this spirit among today’s youth, motivating them to dedicate themselves to the nation and become the future army.
In an exclusive discussion with IANS, Nidhi highlighted the significant theme of patriotism in the original Border film and how Border 2 mirrors the contemporary sentiment of valor. She stated, “Patriotism is akin to love; it’s eternal and unchanging! It flows through our veins, regardless of the generation we belong to. Our commitment to our country remains constant.”
“This film aims to once again spark the flame of patriotism in the youth of today, hopefully inspiring them to join the ranks of tomorrow’s army,” she added.
While the original Border was inspired by the Battle of Longewala, Border 2 is expected to depict the Kargil War of 1999, a conflict primarily confined between the two nations.
Directed by Anurag Singh, this sequel to the 1997 epic war film “Border”, which focused on the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, boasts an impressive cast including Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, and others.
When asked about the motivation behind reviving the legacy of Border after more than two decades, Nidhi expressed, “Upon discovering stories of courage from the same 1971 war, I realized it was time for Border 2… the same conflict, just different battles and untold stories!”
Nidhi explained that Border 2 strives to evoke the same emotional response as its predecessor by showcasing new battles fought against the same adversary.
“This film takes you back to the 1971 war, revealing stories of more soldiers and heroes who sacrificed for our nation, many of whom remain unknown. It was essential to narrate their tales too. You will experience the same emotions, the same era, and the same enemy, but on different fronts!”
The cast of Border 2 also includes names like Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and Diljit Dosanjh.
Reflecting on the actor selection process for such emotionally charged roles, Nidhi shared a story from her filmmaker father, JP Dutta. “He always mentions that when it comes to casting for a war film based on real-life soldiers, we don’t choose them; they choose their representatives from above, guiding us to them.”
Nidhi believes that all the actors in this film were similarly chosen by the “martyrs” to fulfill their roles, and they have done so beautifully.
