Chennai, Jan 22 (NationPress) The renowned filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s post on X about Satya has resonated deeply with numerous individuals in the film sector, including distributor Mahendra Soni, who expressed his gratitude towards the talented director for being the catalyst behind countless narratives.
In response to RGV's extensive confession on X, Mahendra Soni stated, “Your reflections on ‘Satya’ stirred many memories, Ramu sir. Just as you discovered your voice with ‘Satya’, we uncovered ours through a bittersweet journey with ‘Rangeela’. Life indeed has a peculiar way of shaping our aspirations.”
The distributor reminisced about his experience when he aimed to distribute Rangeela.
He recounted, “I vividly recall - @shrikantmohta
and I, merely 22 or 23 years old, entering Jhamu Sughand sir’s office post the tremendous success of ‘Bombay’, as two youthful distributors from Kolkata. At that time, you were working on ‘Rangeela’, and you were present in the office. Seeing young film distributors, you guided us to the edit suite and showcased a rough cut of ‘Mangta Hai Kya’ and ‘Hai Rama’ on a small screen.
“We had never experienced anything like it - daring, elegant, and enhanced by Rahman’s groundbreaking sound. Observing our reactions, you recognized you had crafted something extraordinary, something that had already found its audience.
“We were overjoyed - finalized the agreement and even took the poster home filled with dreams of its release. Yet, being novices in the industry, we were soon outbid by another distributor. The sheer anguish of losing ‘Rangeela’ struck us hard when the poster was removed from our Chandni Chowk office. It wasn't the only heartbreak; we faced a similar fate with another film.”
Nevertheless, these setbacks turned into pivotal moments, as Mahendra Soni reflected. He mentioned, “But those instances transformed into pivotal moments for us. They motivated us to aspire for greater heights, to seize control of our destiny, and to produce our own films in Bengali. That heartbreak ignited a journey that has now reached 180 films and counting. Thank you for being the spark behind so many stories, Ramu sir. Such moments remind us why we cherish what we do. @SVFsocial”
