Los Angeles, Nov 20 (NationPress) Renowned Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg has made it clear that he prefers not to measure his parenting approach against that of other families.
The 54-year-old actor, a father to Ella (22), Michael (19), Brendan (17), and Grace (15) with his wife Rhea Durham (47), revealed that it’s quite common to feel overwhelmed by the parenting styles of others, particularly when kids discuss how their friends are raised, as reported by ‘Female First UK’.
In an interview with Extra, he stated, “Many people fall into that trap. It’s easy to get distracted by what everyone else is doing. Who knows what’s real and what’s just for show? The grass often appears greener on the other side. I feel incredibly fortunate and blessed. You can’t choose your family; you’re bonded together, and that’s a beautiful thing. But it’s simple to become preoccupied with those comparisons.”
His co-star in ‘Family Plan 2’, Michelle Monaghan, echoed his sentiments, emphasizing the significance of focusing on one’s own family values.
She remarked, “There are moments when we’re all together, and someone might say, ‘Well, so-and-so gets to do this, or their curfew is that.’ And you find yourself thinking, ‘That’s wonderful for them, but this is how we do things in our family.’”
According to ‘Female First UK’, Mark also recently shared that his children enjoy witnessing him “swearing” and “kicking a**” on screen now that they’re old enough to appreciate his films.
He recounted to ‘People’ magazine, “We watched this movie together while we were in Paris. I was working on Family Plan 2, and they loved this movie (Play Dirty). Now, they enjoy seeing their dad swear and be tough, things they couldn’t see when they were younger.”
During the filming of ‘Play Dirty’, his family visited him, and he noted that the “greatest sacrifice” is being away from them, although he can manage the physical challenges of action films at this point in his career.
He added, “That’s the hardest part for me, but action scenes are easy. I’ve done it all. What concerns me more is bringing this character to life.”
