Narsinghpur, Nov 20 (NationPress) Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha on Thursday inaugurated the foundation of a new Mushran Bhavan in the Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh.
This new building will also serve as the district Congress office.
The bhoomi-pujan ceremony took place on the 93rd birth anniversary of the late Ajay Narayan Mushran, a former Finance Minister of Madhya Pradesh who passed away in 2004 after a lengthy illness.
Numerous senior Congress figures were present, including PCC chief Jitu Patwari, state in-charge Harish Choudhary, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar, and former Union Minister Arun Yadav.
The original Mushran Bhavan was founded in 1973 by Ajay Narayan Mushran’s father, Pt. Shyam Sundar Narayan Mushran, following his receipt of the Krishi Ratna award from the Government of India.
The award funds led to the establishment of a trust named after Mahatma Gandhi, with the building subsequently registered under this trust and named Mushran Bhavan.
Due to the deteriorating condition of the old structure, plans have been initiated for a new multi-storey facility. Tankha, who is the son-in-law of Ajay Narayan Mushran and heads the trust, shared images of the ceremony, captioned: “Mahatma Gandhi Trust: District Congress office space and the literature on great leaders.”
Historically, the Mushran family wielded significant political influence in Narsinghpur, with both Shyam Sundar Mushran and Ajay Narayan Mushran representing Congress until 2004. This district, part of the Mahakaushal region, has long been viewed as a bastion for Congress.
However, in the last twenty years, BJP leader Prahlad Singh Patel, who currently serves as a minister in Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s cabinet, has strengthened his foothold in the region.
The new Mushran Bhavan initiative is perceived as a strategic move to reinvigorate Congress’s presence in Narsinghpur, reminiscent of the political legacy established by the Mushran family.
