Patna, Nov 20 (NationPress) The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has launched a strong critique against the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), alleging hypocrisy regarding nepotism. They pointed out that nine recently appointed Ministers in the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar Cabinet hail from prominent political families.
During the recent Assembly election campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar consistently criticized Lalu Prasad Yadav, the RJD leader, for what they termed as his family-oriented politics.
However, with several Ministers from political dynasties now part of the new NDA government in Bihar, the RJD has intensified its backlash.
The RJD argues that the NDA members, who profess to oppose dynasty politics, have themselves fostered the very nepotism they condemned, by including MLAs with significant political backgrounds in the Cabinet.
Among the newly sworn-in Ministers are several notable figures from established political lineages.
These include Samrat Choudhary, the son of former Minister Shakuni Choudhary and former MLA Parvati Devi.
Santosh Kumar Suman, son of former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, son-in-law of sitting MLA Jyoti Manjhi, and husband of current MLA Deepa Manjhi, is also among them.
Ashok Choudhary, son of former Minister Mahavir Choudhary, and Nitin Nabin, son of former MLA Naveen Kishore Sinha, are also included.
Political lineage is also evident among the women in the Bihar Cabinet.
Shreyasi Singh, daughter of former Union Minister Digvijay Singh and former MP Putul Kumari, has secured a Ministerial position.
Rama Nishad, daughter-in-law of former Union Minister Captain Jai Narayan Nishad and wife of former MP Ajay Nishad, is likewise part of the Cabinet.
Other Ministers with strong political ties include Deepak Prakash, son of former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha and MLA Snehlata; Vijay Choudhary, son of former MLA Jagdish Prasad Choudhary; and Sunil Kumar, son of former Minister Chandrika Ram and brother of former MLA Anil Kumar.
The RJD has raised questions about whether the NDA's denunciation of nepotism is simply a political strategy, asserting that the Cabinet's formation plainly reflects the influence of political families.
