Mirzapur: The Movie has received certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with barely any modifications, a source close to the production confirmed on 31 August. The theatrical adaptation of the acclaimed Amazon Prime Video series is set to hit cinema halls on 4 September, retaining what insiders describe as its 'raw, unfiltered essence.'

A source familiar with the certification process said the board suggested 'very few modifications' and made no significant cuts to the film. Earlier reports had indicated that 35 seconds of footage had been trimmed, but the source disputes this, asserting that the film audiences will see is effectively the version the makers intended. The certification outcome is notable given the franchise's reputation for unvarnished violence and strong language — elements that have historically drawn scrutiny from the CBFC.

Pankaj Tripathi, who reprises his iconic role as Kaleen Bhaiya, described the theatrical experience as a fundamental shift in how audiences will engage with the world of Mirzapur. So, while Mirzapur used to be a "leave me alone" kind of watch, it's now in "party mode."
