Tamil film Modha Rathiri, directed by debutant Raja Karuppasamy and featuring Rishikanth and Anishma Anilkumar in the lead roles, has wrapped principal photography, production house Mythri Movie Makers announced on Wednesday, 1 July. A release date and further updates are expected to follow shortly.

Mythri Movie Makers confirmed the shoot wrap on its social media channels, writing: '#ModhaRathiri shooting wrapped up. Release date announcement and other exciting updates coming soon.' The film is listed internally as #MythriTamil03, marking it as the production house's third Tamil-language project — a notable expansion for the banner, which built its reputation primarily on Telugu blockbusters.

About the Film's Premise

According to sources close to the production, Modha Rathiri centres on an unusual wedding night during which unexpected revelations and a cascade of lies unravel what was meant to be a new beginning. The premise has been described as gripping and emotionally rooted, with chaos replacing celebration as the night progresses. The title, roughly translating to 'First Night', signals the intimate, high-stakes setting of the narrative.

Cast and Crew

Anishma Anilkumar, who drew attention with her performances in Sirai and Youth, plays the female lead opposite Rishikanth. Just a week before the wrap announcement, the makers released her first look poster on the occasion of her birthday, describing her character as 'a simple girl who has a storm within.' The ensemble cast also includes Chetan, A. Venkatesh, Bucks, Abdool Lee, Shelly Kishore, Sangeetha Balan, Banupriya, Sumithra Devi L., Varshini Karmegham, Karthikeyan, Velan, and Kowshik Kabilan.

On the technical side, Surendran Paranjothi handles cinematography, Ashok Arjunan is the editor, and Bharath Sankar composes the music. Poornima Ramaswamy serves as costume designer and A. Balumahendra as art director.

Producer Naveen Yerneni of Mythri Movie Makers had earlier stated: 'When director Raja Karuppasamy narrated the script of Modha Rathiri, we instantly felt it was the kind of engaging and unique story we wanted to bring to the screen.' He emphasised the banner's intent to back content-driven projects alongside its signature large-scale entertainers.

Director Raja Karuppasamy, making his feature directorial debut, said: 'Making my directorial debut itself is a big challenge, and to do it under a prestigious banner like Mythri Movie Makers makes it even more special. I sincerely thank producers Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar for trusting me with this opportunity.' With the shoot now complete, all eyes are on the release date announcement that the makers have promised is imminent.
