Thiruvananthapuram, July 1 (NationPress) The daughter of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, Vismaya, affectionately known as Maya, is poised to make her acting debut, ending years of speculation about her entry into the film industry.

Vismaya, who has predominantly focused on writing and painting while keeping a low profile, has often left the decision about her acting career to her father's discretion. He has been known to say, 'It’s her decision; she is mature enough to choose what she wants.'

Her first role will be in Thudakam, the 37th project from Aashirvad Cinemas, directed by Jude Anthany Joseph.

This announcement has generated excitement in the film industry, although details such as the male lead and the complete cast are yet to be revealed.

Interestingly, this is a rare occurrence where both children of a film icon have opted to pursue careers in acting. Mohanlal's son, Pranav, has already made waves with several successful films while maintaining a private lifestyle.

Aashirvad Cinemas, established in 1999 by Antony Perumbavoor (who was once Mohanlal’s driver), began its journey with the blockbuster Narasimham in 2000, which set the stage for it to become one of the leading production houses in Malayalam cinema.

It remains to be seen if Mohanlal will make an appearance in Thudakam and when the filming will commence.

Vismaya’s arrival into the industry aligns with the growing trend of star offspring entering the film realm. Notable figures include Dulquer Salmaan (son of Mammootty), Kalidas Jayaram (son of Jayaram), Gokul Suresh (son of Suresh Gopi), Fahadh Faasil (son of director Fazil), Keerthy Suresh (daughter of producer Suresh Kumar and actress Menaka), along with the daughters of director Priyadarshan and the actor couple Manoj K. Jayan and Urvashi, among others.
