Mumbai, Dec 29 (NationPress) Actor Mona Singh, known for her seamless transition between television, cinema, and digital platforms, reflects on the first quarter of the 21st century as a significant chapter of both personal and industry growth.

In a conversation with IANS, Mona characterized her journey as one rich in learning and gratitude.

“On a personal level, it’s been a path of continuous learning and appreciation. I’ve evolved alongside the industry, both as an actor and an individual. I’ve been lucky to portray roles that challenged me and kept me relevant across various mediums. I am grateful to remain here, filled with excitement and curiosity,” Mona expressed to IANS.

From achieving household fame with her iconic role in the 2003 series Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin to making a lasting impression in films like 3 Idiots, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., and Laal Singh Chaddha, Mona has effortlessly adapted to evolving formats and storytelling techniques.

Her recent participation in the series The Bads of Bollywood further showcased her skill in portraying complex, modern characters.

When asked about the most surprising industry change, Mona remarked: “The rapid acceptance of change within the industry took me by surprise. OTT platforms have opened an entirely new realm for artists and storytellers, where age, genre, and format are no longer barriers.”

“Additionally, the direct connection audiences now have with artists through social media was something I never imagined in the late 90s.”

Mona believes that the most notable evolution in Bollywood over the past 25 years has been in storytelling.

“Reflecting on the first 25 years of this century, the most significant transformation I observe is in storytelling. Narratives have become much more authentic, intricate, and audacious. We no longer shy away from delving into uncomfortable emotions or exploring morally ambiguous characters.”

She highlighted how technology has revolutionized film production and presentation.

“What excites me the most is the evolution of the audience. Today's viewers are inquisitive, perceptive, and receptive to all kinds of narratives, whether big or small, mainstream or niche. Witnessing this shift has been truly beautiful.”

As we approach the end of 2025, the actress revealed that she will remember this quarter-century for its courage.

Explaining her choice of words, she stated: “I’ll cherish these 25 years for the courage to tell fresh stories, shatter stereotypes, and undergo personal reinventions. I’ll treasure the audience’s affection, the friendships formed on set, and the joy of engaging in work that remains significant.”

“Most importantly, I’ll remember how cinema has continually evolved, and how I have evolved alongside it.”
