Mumbai, Dec 29 (NationPress) Actor Mona Singh, whose career has effortlessly transitioned between television, film, and digital media, expresses that the initial 25 years of the 21st century have been a significant time of personal evolution for her, paralleling the transformation within the entertainment sector.

Reflecting on her journey, Mona shared with IANS that it has been characterized by learning and appreciation.

“On a personal level, it’s been a continuous journey of learning and gratitude. I’ve evolved alongside the industry, both as an actor and as an individual. I've been lucky to portray roles that have pushed me to grow, challenge myself, and remain pertinent across various platforms. I feel grateful to still be active, excited, and curious,” Mona stated to IANS.

From gaining fame through her role in the 2003 series Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin to making a lasting impression in films like 3 Idiots, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., and Laal Singh Chaddha, Mona has skillfully adapted to the evolving formats and narrative techniques.

Her recent performance in the series The Bads of Bollywood further showcased her talent in embracing intricate, modern characters effortlessly.

When asked about the most surprising change in the industry, Mona remarked: “The speed at which the industry welcomed change took me by surprise. OTT platforms have opened up a completely new realm for actors and storytellers, where age, genre, and format are no longer limiting factors.”

“Additionally, the direct connection between audiences and artists via social media is something I never envisioned back in the late 90s.”

Reflecting on Bollywood’s evolution over the past 25 years, Mona firmly believes that the most notable shift has been in storytelling.

“Looking back at the first quarter-century of this century, the most significant transformation I observe is in storytelling. Narratives have become much more authentic, layered, and daring. We are no longer hesitant to explore uncomfortable emotions or morally ambiguous characters.”

She emphasized that technology has drastically altered the methods of shooting and presenting films.

“What excites me the most is witnessing the evolution of the audience. Today's viewers are inquisitive, discerning, and open to diverse narratives, whether they are grand, modest, commercial, or niche. That transformation has been a beautiful experience.”

As 2025 approaches, the actress noted that she will cherish the past quarter-century for its courage.

When asked why courage, she explained: “I will remember these 25 years for the courage to tell new stories, break stereotypes, and reinvent ourselves. I’ll cherish the love from the audience, the friendships formed on set, and the joy of engaging in work that remains relevant.”

“Above all, I’ll remember how cinema has continually evolved, and how I have evolved with it.”
