Mona Singh's New Series 'Maa Ka Sum' Blends Humor and Emotion
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 27 (NationPress) Actress Mona Singh is all set for the debut of her new streaming series ‘Maa Ka Sum’. She has expressed that the series beautifully intertwines humour and emotion, while also showcasing the vulnerability of her character.
The series trailer was revealed on Friday. Directed by Nicholas Kharkongor, it delves into the journey of a maths prodigy who attempts to decode love through mathematical equations, only to learn that emotions often defy logic.
The trailer features Agastya (played by Mihir Ahuja), a 19-year-old mathematical genius, stating, “Maths ho ya pyaar… ek hi equation hain”, as he initiates “Project Mom”, aimed at finding the ideal partner for his single mother, Vinita (played by Mona Singh). The storyline unfolds as a quirky, fast-paced adventure where logic clashes with emotion, and meticulously crafted equations begin to fall apart.
Mona Singh, portraying Agastya’s mother Vinita, remarked, “Vinita is a character unlike any I’ve played before, primarily due to the refreshing uniqueness of this story. At its core is a single mother-son connection founded on an easy friendship, profound trust, and a rather unconventional perspective on love, which immediately captivated me.”
She added, “I appreciate that Vinita permits herself to be vulnerable, allowing her to rediscover love and trust her son’s distinctive outlook on life. The series achieves a remarkable balance between humour and emotion, telling a story that feels warm, sincere, and profoundly relatable. I believe many will recognize aspects of their own relationships within it, and I’m eager for everyone to experience Maa Ka Sum exclusively on Prime Video, starting April 3.”
Mihir Ahuja, who depicts the lead role of Agastya, shared, “What I find endearing about Agastya is that behind his confidence and brilliance lies a son who loves his mother deeply and desires her happiness. He shares a rare friendship with her, characterized by honesty, comfort, and a warmth that feels exceptionally special. In his own unconventional way, he takes on the responsibility of caring for her and is determined to assist her in finding love, convinced that mathematics can solve even emotional dilemmas. Being part of a Prime Video Original series has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I hope audiences enjoy Agastya’s journey as much as I cherished portraying him.”
The series, produced by Babita Ashiwal under Eunoia Films, is set to premiere on Prime Video in Hindi, with subtitles available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam on April 3.
