Is Mumbai Exhausted for Filmmakers? Insights from 'Do Deewane Sehar Mein' Director
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Feb 16 (NationPress) Director Ravi Udyawar, who is preparing for the debut of his latest cinematic venture ‘Do Deewane Sehar Mein’, expressed that Mumbai feels utterly drained for filmmakers, highlighting the challenges in discovering fresh elements in a city so thoroughly documented on film over the years.
The director shared insights with IANS prior to the film’s launch, stating, “Bombay, from my perspective as a filmmaker, feels overtaxed. Every corner of this city has been explored. The landscape has undergone significant transformation. So, how can one present it in an intriguing light? Cinematically, how do we depict this? It’s a considerable task to grasp the essence of this world, its hues, and what we aim to convey. And you can observe that shift in colors. This is how we’ve conceptualized the film’s aesthetic.”
He further elaborated, “Kudos to the entire crew. Having the finest professionals onboard, such as your Director of Photography and costume designer, is crucial because every minor detail is essential for storytelling. Even the choice of colors contributes to the emotional narrative. The environment they inhabit, the types of close-ups you capture subconsciously—all these factors matter. Ultimately, it remains a romance, so music is vital, and we need our background score and thematic compositions.”
“Every character experiences their unique emotions, carrying their personal themes. It’s all about crafting a complete arc within the scene. This is often concealed. We utilize these themes to amplify their emotional depth. The city also acts as a third character in the narrative, and we’ve woven that into the fabric of the film,” he concluded.
‘Do Deewane Seher Mein’ features a talented cast including Siddhant Chaturvedi, Mrunal Thakur, Sandeepa Dhar, and Ayesha Raza. The film, produced by Zee Studios, Bhansali Productions, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Prerna Singh, Umesh Kumar Bansal, and Bharat Kumar Ranga in collaboration with Ravi Udyawar Films, is set to hit theaters on February 20, 2026.
