The film, directed by Yash Chopra, debuted on 27 February 1976, featuring a star-studded cast that included Waheeda Rehman, Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Raakhee Gulzar, Rishi, and Neetu. “We were filming Deewaar, which is packed with intense fighting sequences and action. Just two days after finishing that film, I had to travel to Kashmir to shoot Kabhi Kabhie, a romantic film amidst flowers, cool mountain breezes, and a completely different atmosphere. It was unusual to switch from one extreme to the other,” the actor reflected.
