Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 19 (NationPress) — The National Commission for Women has summoned actors Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt, among others, regarding the ongoing controversy related to the song "Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke".
Utilizing its authority under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990, the Commission has acted on its own accord after reports surfaced alleging that the song contains elements of obscenity and vulgarity.
As per the Commission's findings, the content appears to be sexually suggestive and objectionable, possibly breaching provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
In addition to Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt, summons have also been directed towards lyricist Raqueeb Alam, producer Venkat K Narayana of KVN Group, and director Kiran Kumar. They are required to appear before the Commission on March 24, 2026, at 12:30 PM, bringing along pertinent documentation.
The Commission has warned that failure to comply may lead to appropriate legal actions.
Previously, on March 17, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) had issued a notice concerning the alleged use of inappropriate and double-meaning lyrics in the song from the film KD – The Devil.
On Wednesday, Nora addressed the issue on her social media, providing her perspective.
She clarified that she distanced herself from the project upon realizing the potential repercussions stemming from the song's lyrics. Initially unaware of the song's meaning, she chose to withdraw from further involvement, including promotions.
