Los Angeles, June 5 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Olivia Munn believes she has successfully arrived at "the other side" of her life after enduring numerous health challenges.
The star of Your Friends and Neighbours, aged 44, faced a series of significant surgeries following a cancer diagnosis that dramatically altered her life. She recently shared her feelings about having a renewed perspective on motherhood and her career, as reported by Female First UK.
In an interview with People magazine, she expressed, "I’m incredibly thankful to be on the other side. Everything seems easier now. I feel a profound sense of peace."
Olivia also noted, "If I can maintain my happiness and health, I just want to glide through the remainder of my life."
According to Female First UK, she shares a three-year-old son, Malcolm, with comedian and actor John Mulaney, aged 42, and admits that managing his tantrums sometimes puts her into "survival" mode.
In April 2023, Olivia was diagnosed with luminal B breast cancer, just months after overcoming postpartum anxiety following Malcolm’s birth.
She reflected, "It offered a whole new perspective, as I had been grappling with life postpartum, and now I was fighting to stay alive. From the moment I got my diagnosis, it became a forward march."
She underwent extensive medical procedures, including a double mastectomy, hysterectomy, and ovary removal, and started IVF treatment under a specialized protocol for cancer patients. Together with John, they successfully retrieved and fertilized seven eggs.
Olivia shared, "I said, 'I really don’t believe I’ll be okay unless we obtain two female embryos. I recognize this poses a risk, but I need your support.' He replied, 'Whatever you need.'"
On the same day, they discovered they had two healthy female embryos. In September 2024, the couple welcomed their daughter, Mei, via surrogate. Olivia expressed, "We were fortunate to find someone so compassionate with whom we connected so deeply."
They tied the knot in July that year, and Olivia later felt a strong desire to return to acting to "reinvigorate" herself.
