Director Vignesh Srikanth has revealed that his upcoming Tamil film 'Once More', starring Arjun Das and Aditi Shankar in the lead, is rooted in a deeply personal chapter of his own life. The film is set to release worldwide on 28 August 2025.

The Personal Story Behind the Film

Speaking at the trailer launch event in Chennai, Vignesh Srikanth opened up about the emotional origins of the project. “This is a particular part of my personal life that I have made as a story for the big screens. I was in a very dark time. When I was in that time, the things that I went through — somehow, I was able to see it as a particular point in cinema. I was able to turn it into a story,” he said.

The director added that his central intent was to craft a film that offers hope. “When I was changing it, I wanted to turn it into a hopeful film. That’s what this film is about,” he said. The title itself carries that message: “Somehow, everything will turn out better — that’s why we went with the title, ‘Once More’.”

Five Years in the Making

Vignesh Srikanth described the journey as spanning nearly five years — three years writing the script and two years waiting for the film to materialise. “This is my memory of that thing. When I see this, I feel very fulfilled. I feel very happy. What’s in this film is my heart. What’s in this film is my passion,” he said at the event.

The emotional weight behind the project gives 'Once More' a distinct identity in the crowded Tamil release calendar, positioning it as a personal, introspective drama rather than a commercial genre exercise.

Star Cast and Key Crew

Alongside leads Arjun Das and Aditi Shankar, the film features model-turned-actress Sona Olickal in a pivotal role. Cinematography is handled by Aravind Viswanathan, with editing by Nash and art direction by Raj Kamal. Costume design is by Navadevi Rajkumar, choreography by Apsar, sound design by Renjith Venugopal, and colour grading by Arun Sangameshwar. Lyrics have been penned by the director himself.

Hesham Abdul Wahab’s Tamil Debut

One of the most-talked-about aspects of 'Once More' is its music. Celebrated Malayalam composer Hesham Abdul Wahab — widely known for his chart-topping work on 'Hridayam' and 'Hi Nanna' — makes his Tamil film debut with this project. Several songs from the album have reportedly already emerged as chartbusters ahead of release.

The film is produced by Yuvaraj Ganesan under the banner of Million Dollar Studios, with Harish Durairaj as executive producer and Vijay MP as creative producer. All eyes now turn to how audiences receive a film its director calls ‘my heart’ when it opens on 28 August.
