Chennai, Dec 22 (NationPress) The acclaimed National Award-winning Tamil director Parthiban has revealed his deep desire to pay tribute to the legendary Malayalam filmmaker Sreenivasan. This heartfelt commitment led him to cancel his planned trip to Dubai and instead travel to Kochi.
For those who might not be aware, the multifaceted talent—actor, writer, and director Sreenivasan—passed away on Saturday at the Trippunithura Taluk Hospital, where he was receiving treatment for age-related health issues. He was 69 years old.
In a heartfelt post on his X timeline, Parthiban shared the intensity of his journey to Kochi. He noted, "To understand how I got to Kochi, you must know it was an overwhelming experience. There were no available flights from Chennai. At 7:55 PM, I took control of my Benz and drove myself, arriving at the airport by 8:40 PM, narrowly avoiding accidents on four separate occasions while driving alone."
After detailing the challenges he faced at the airport, he recounted, "The flight was set to depart at 8:50 PM, but upon entering the terminal, I found no seats available. Half-jokingly, I told the senior manager at Indigo that even a pilot’s seat would suffice if that was the only way to get on board. Eventually, at 9:25 PM, a staff member graciously offered me one of the available seats. I am deeply thankful to the senior manager for facilitating this arrangement."
Upon reaching Kochi by 11:00 PM, Parthiban admitted he was uncertain about his accommodation plans. "I managed to find a simple three-star hotel near Sreenivasan sir’s residence. I was supposed to be in Dubai today, having canceled my flight and hotel. Yet, strangely, I felt an overwhelming need to be here. I kept questioning myself: why did I rush from there to here? Something profound compelled me," he added.
He reflected on the presence of legends like Mohanlal, Mammootty, and Dileep, stating, "I've experienced wealth in my life, but what stood before me was not material riches; it was a pure soul and a great creator deserving of utmost respect. I carried jasmine flowers to honor a cherished friend. I knew recognition was unlikely, and that wasn’t my intention. What mattered was that this gesture resonated with the universe. When an act is performed with genuine sincerity, it reaches its intended destination—even if only the universe acknowledges it," he explained.
To his surprise, Parthiban learned after the fact that he had not gone unnoticed. "I truly believed no one recognized my presence, and I was at peace with that. However, Director Rajesh, with whom I collaborated on 'Escape From Uganda', acknowledged my attendance and later sent me heartfelt messages. That moment has remained with me," he shared.
He then shared the sentiments expressed by Director Rajesh, whose message read, "Seeing you in that crowd today filled me with joy. It reflects pure friendship and respect. Your journey from Chennai just to honor Sreeniyettan speaks volumes about your character. You are a good human and a true friend. You touched my heart, big brother. Huge respect."
In concluding his thoughts, Parthiban remarked, "Today, you imparted a powerful life theory to me—more than a lesson, it’s a philosophy I will carry forward. Thank you, sir, with much love and respect. Among the many heroes I met today, you stand as the greatest. The younger generation will discover your films. I aim to demonstrate to them what it truly means to be a real hero. They felt emotional when I shared that someone came and went quietly without seeking recognition."
