Mumbai, Aug 20 (NationPress) From "Scam 1992 – The Harshad Mehta Story" to "Phule", "Saare Jahan Se Accha", and "Gandhi", actor Pratik Gandhi has expressed his passion for period films and series.
“I have been involved in similar narratives in theatre as well. Our historical heritage is incredibly rich. There are countless stories to tell. Exploring these tales is a joy, and if we have the chance, why not seize it?” Pratik shared with IANS.
When asked why period films and series appeal to audiences of all ages, he remarked: “These dramas are enjoyable to watch. They provide a glimpse into how people reacted in various situations, allowing us to relate these experiences to our own lives. The depth that existed in the past is palpable, even as life speeds up around us. It’s refreshing to take a moment to pause.”
“Saare Jahan Se Accha” follows the thrilling journey of RAW agent Vishnu Shankar, tasked with a perilous mission deep in Pakistan.
Set against the tense backdrop of the 1970s, a period when every strategic move could have sparked a global nuclear conflict, the show captures the intense intelligence war between India’s RAW and Pakistan’s ISI.
This series features Pratik Gandhi, Suhail Nayyar, Kritika Kamra, Tillotama Shome, Rajat Kapoor, and Anup Soni.
Produced by Bombay Fables and created by Gaurav Shukla, with Bhavesh Mandalia as creative producer, “Saare Jahan Se Accha” is set to premiere on August 13 on Netflix, just ahead of Independence Day.
Discussing his forthcoming series “Gandhi”, the biographical historical drama is helmed by Hansal Mehta.
The series chronicles the life of Mahatma Gandhi, inspired by the works Gandhi Before India and Gandhi: The Years That Changed the World by Ramachandra Guha. It is intended to unfold over three seasons.
The first season will depict Gandhi’s formative years, starting in colonial India as a curious teenager, transitioning to a shy law student in London, and ultimately as a young lawyer spending 23 transformative years in South Africa. The series will debut in the 'Primetime Programme' at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on September 17, 2025.
