Mumbai, Aug 20 (NationPress) From "Scam 1992 – The Harshad Mehta Story" to "Phule", "Saare Jahan Se Accha", and "Gandhi", actor Pratik Gandhi has expressed his passion for historical films and series.
“I have previously worked on similar narratives in theatre too. Our historical heritage is incredibly rich, filled with numerous stories. Exploring these narratives is enjoyable, and if we have this chance, why not seize it?” Pratik shared with IANS.
When queried about the enduring appeal of period films and series across various age groups, he remarked: “These historical dramas are captivating to watch. They offer insights into how individuals reacted in specific circumstances, allowing us to draw parallels with our own lives. The gravity present in those times contrasts with today’s fast-paced world, making it refreshing to pause and reflect.”
“Saare Jahan Se Accha” chronicles the thrilling journey of RAW agent Vishnu Shankar, tasked with a perilous mission deep within Pakistan.
Set against the tense backdrop of the 1970s, a period when any strategic misstep could ignite a global nuclear conflict, the series portrays the intense intelligence battle between India’s RAW and Pakistan’s ISI.
Alongside Pratik Gandhi, the series features Suhail Nayyar, Kritika Kamra, Tillotama Shome, Rajat Kapoor, and Anup Soni.
Produced by Bombay Fables and created by Gaurav Shukla, with Bhavesh Mandalia as the creative producer, “Saare Jahan Se Accha” is set to debut on Netflix on August 13, just before Independence Day.
Discussing his forthcoming series “Gandhi,” a biographical historical drama crafted by Hansal Mehta, Pratik elaborated on the narrative that depicts the life of Mahatma Gandhi, inspired by the books Gandhi Before India and Gandhi: The Years That Changed the World authored by Ramachandra Guha. The series is designed to unfold over three seasons.
The inaugural season explores Gandhi’s formative years, beginning in colonial India as an inquisitive teenager, evolving into a reserved law student in London, and ultimately as a young lawyer who undergoes transformative experiences during 23 years in South Africa. The series is set to have its world premiere in the 'Primetime Programme' at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on September 17, 2025.
