Mumbai, July 14 (NationPress) Music composer Pritam, who has been receiving tremendous acclaim for his recent soundtrack in 'Metro...In Dino', disclosed that the iconic track ‘Channa Mereya’ was originally crafted for the Salman Khan film ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, rather than ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.
‘Channa Mereya’ has emerged as a contemporary heartbreak anthem, garnering a dedicated fan base with over 275 million streams on Spotify, accumulating around 200,000 daily streams. This might have been different had Kabir Khan chosen the tune for ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ from Munni's perspective.
The music maestro recently conversed with IANS, sharing the narrative behind ‘Channa Mereya’ and how destiny influenced its selection by Karan Johar for ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.
He mentioned to IANS, “I created ‘Channa Mereya’ for the same scenario in ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’. It was rejected for that film and ended up in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. The melody remained unchanged, but the lyrics were different.”
Pritam also discussed his frequent collaborators, Imtiaz Ali and Anurag Basu, highlighting their unique styles. He remarked that while their approach to generating ideas is quite similar, their preferences for particular textures set them apart.
He stated, “Imtiaz Ali prefers sounds that are fluid and percussive, while Anurag leans towards more melodic tones.”
Previously, the composer indicated that he continues to refine the music for 'Metro...In Dino' even after its release. Those familiar with Pritam recognize his obsession with his compositions, often working on them beyond the point where others believe they are perfect.
He shared that until he achieves creative satisfaction, he persistently works on his tracks. This is true for 'Metro...In Dino' as well. Despite being over a week post-release, he still hopes to make minor adjustments to the soundtrack before its debut on OTT platforms.
