Chennai, July 7 (NationPress) Actress Priya Bhavani Shankar, who stars as the leading lady in the third chapter of director Ajay Gnanamuthu's renowned horror series ‘Demonte Colony’, has officially commenced filming for the movie.

On her social media platforms, Priya Bhavani Shankar shared a photo from the film set, captioning it, "The lady with the braid returns… First day on set. Lights activated. Shadows are lurking. #DemonteColony3 #DayOne #TheEndIsTooFar Let’s have some fun 👻 @ajaygnanamuthu @arulnithi_tamilarasu @samcsmusic @meenakshigovindharajan_ @iam_archanaravichandran."

The Demonte Colony series, featuring Arulnithi in the lead role, has garnered a massive fan base, and enthusiasts are thrilled to see the third chapter unfold. Notably, the second part of the film was a blockbuster, showcasing both Arulnithi and Priya Bhavani Shankar in leading roles.

Director Ajay Gnanamuthu initiated pre-production for the film in April this year. He even shared a snapshot of his crew in Sliema, Malta, stating, "Demonte Colony 3 work in progress."

It’s interesting to note that the Demonte Colony franchise is named after a real location in Chennai, which is intriguingly reputed to be haunted.

Setting a new standard in the horror genre of Tamil cinema, the franchise debuted in 2015 with the first installment of Demonte Colony, which became an immediate success. Eight years later, the second installment was released and also achieved superhit status.

The second part included not only the lead actors but also featured Arun Pandian, Muthu Kumar, Meenakshi Govindarajan, and Archana Ravichandran in significant roles.

For the second film, Harish Kannan served as the cinematographer, while Sam C S composed the music. Art direction was led by Ravi Pandi and editing was conducted by D Kumaresh.

Initially produced by Vijaya Subramaniyan for White Nights Entertainment along with RC Rajkumar of Gnanamuthu Pattarai, Bobby Balachandran, a Cyber Forensics expert, acquired all the film rights before its completion, thus becoming its producer.

The second installment, which premiered last year, enjoyed an impressive 85-day theatrical run, much to the satisfaction of its producers. The conclusion of the second part indicated a strong commitment to creating a third installment of the series.
