Priyanka Chopra Explores the Contrasts Between Bollywood and Hollywood
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 7 (NationPress) The internationally acclaimed Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who has achieved remarkable success in both Hollywood and Bollywood, has shared her insights on the contrasts between these two film industries, particularly emphasizing the differing production speeds worldwide.
The 43-year-old actress, who first graced the Bollywood screen in 2003 with the espionage thriller The Hero: Love Story of a Spy and made her Hollywood debut with the 2015 series Quantico, pointed out that the American film industry is meticulous about scheduling and execution.
Priyanka remarked, "In America, there’s a specific protocol regarding when and how we film. Most productions require you to meet daily quotas for shots, which inevitably adds pressure to complete the day's work," she explained to The Hollywood Reporter, according to femalefirst.co.uk.
In her view, Indian cinema takes a more laid-back approach. "The pace of Indian films is generally more relaxed. If we don’t finish the day’s work, it’s not a problem; we can always pick it up tomorrow. Often, we might shoot one segment and then take a break for 10 to 20 days before continuing with the next, which allows us to manage multiple projects simultaneously,” Priyanka noted.
She further elaborated, "In Hollywood, everything is filmed within three months. I'm not sure how it all fits together logistically, but it certainly works. Each industry has its own effective methods."
The actress, who has received a National Award and a Padma Shri, expressed her gratitude for the unwavering support from her Indian fans even after her transition to the US.
Priyanka, married to singer Nick Jonas, reflected, "I feel incredibly fortunate to have such amazing supporters who have been with me through my 25-year journey in film. They have stood by me during difficult times and have defended me fiercely.”
“It’s a powerful feeling to know my work resonates with people, and I hold them close to my heart,” she added, highlighting her impactful roles in films like Fashion, Mary Kom, The Sky Is Pink, Barfi!, Dil Dhadakne Do, Bajirao Mastani, and 7 Khoon Maaf.
She concluded, "Whenever I face difficult choices about my career, their support is invaluable."
