Karthik's upcoming project, 'Made In Korea', is poised to premiere on a streaming platform, and he conveyed his fascination with the parallels between Indian and Korean traditions.
Elaborating on this, he stated, “Over the last ten years, Korean culture has had a profound impact on Indian culture. I had never engaged with K-dramas or K-pop until I embarked on Made In Korea. My research unveiled intriguing cultural ties and historical resemblances between Korean and Tamil backgrounds, which motivated me to craft a narrative that resonated with me. Made In Korea portrays a slice of life, imbued with hope and joy, celebrating this distinctive cultural connection.”
The film narrates the journey of Shenba, whose aspiration to visit Korea with her boyfriend is dashed by betrayal, leaving her stranded in Seoul, battling loneliness and cultural hurdles. Through life's trials, Shenba evolves, discovering her inner strength and forming lifelong friendships.
Actress Priyanka Mohan commented, “The strength and originality of the storyline attracted me to this project; it is a gripping narrative that instantly piqued my interest. As an admirer of Korean dramas, being part of an Indo-Korean collaboration was thrilling and significant.”
“I felt a profound personal connection with the character I play, making my decision to join the project seamless. When Karthik sir shared the script, I realized immediately that I wanted to be involved. Associating with a Netflix original elevates my pride in this venture,” she added.
The film is set to stream on Netflix and is part of its prestigious South slate.
