A message posted on the production company's X timeline stated, “This is to clarify that Raajkamal Films International has not hired any casting agents for any of our films. Raajkamal Films International is not alone in facing the issue of fraudulent casting agents disseminating false casting calls under the guise of reputable production houses and actors.
Recently, Tamil film actor Sibi Sathyaraj, son of the famous actor Sathyaraj, recognized for his role as Kattappa in the blockbuster ‘Baahubali’, alerted the public regarding a fraudulent casting call circulated in his name on social media. The actor clarified that he had no association with either the individual who posted it or the project referenced.
The fraudulent casting call poster that Sibi Sathyaraj cautioned against suggested that a film crew, directed by Sakthi Saravanan and featuring Sathyaraj, was seeking actors of both genders aged between 25 to 50 years. It also requested profiles from child artists aged 10 to 15 years to be sent to a specific number.
In February, Sreyas, Director of Wunderbar Films, had warned the public about crooks issuing fake casting calls in his name, asserting that any casting solicitations made under his or Wunderbar Films' name were “completely false and unfounded”.
A brief statement from Sreyas on his X handle read, “Hello, This is to bring to everyone's attention that any casting calls under my name or Wunderbar Films Pvt Ltd is absolutely false and baseless. +91 7598756841 is not my number and is being misused with my picture.”
Prior to this, Prince Pictures, another esteemed production house, had issued a warning to actors about scammers claiming to offer acting opportunities in their upcoming film ‘Sardar 2’ in exchange for money or other favors.
