Chennai, Nov 21 (NationPress) Raaj Kamal Films International, the esteemed production company of the acclaimed actor, producer, and politician Kamal Haasan, issued a statement on Friday, asserting that it has not contracted any casting agents for its films. The production house also cautioned that it would pursue legal action against any individuals or entities misappropriating its name in unauthorized activities.
The announcement was made via their X timeline, where they shared a poster stating, "This serves to clarify that Raaj Kamal Films International has not engaged any casting agents for our films. Please disregard any emails, messages, or social media communications regarding this matter. Legal measures will be taken against any party misusing the name of Raaj Kamal Films International in an unauthorized manner."
This marks the second instance this year where the production house felt the need to warn the public about fraudulent casting notices.
Furthermore, Raaj Kamal Films International is not alone in facing the issue of deceptive casting calls. Numerous other prominent production companies have encountered similar predicaments throughout the year.
In August, Neelam Productions, led by the renowned director and producer Pa Ranjith, urged actors to be vigilant about fake casting calls and to trust only official communications.
On their X timeline, Neelam Productions clarified, "Beware of FAKE AUDITION CALLS under the name of Neelam Productions. Verify casting calls and audition alerts exclusively through our official social media pages. Thank you!"
They also shared a poster warning about the circulation of fraudulent audition notices, stating, "These AUDITION CALLS ARE FAKE and should not be trusted. Authentic audition-related information will be shared through our verified social media handles. Any announcements from unofficial sources are scams. Thank you! Many actors and production companies have been consistently grappling with the menace of counterfeit casting calls being issued in their names.
Earlier this year, Tamil actor Sibi Sathyaraj, son of the famed actor Sathyaraj, highlighted a fraudulent casting call that circulated under his name on social media. He clarified that he was not associated with the individual who posted it or the project referenced.
The misleading casting call poster suggested that a film directed by Sakthi Saravanan featuring Sibi Sathyaraj in the lead role was seeking actors aged 25 to 50 and child artists aged 10 to 15 to submit their profiles to a specified contact number.
In February, Sreyas, the director of Wunderbar Films, alerted the public about individuals issuing fake casting calls in his name, declaring them as "completely false and unfounded."
In a brief message shared on his X profile, Sreyas emphasized, "Please be informed that any casting calls under my name or Wunderbar Films Pvt Ltd are entirely false. +91 7598756841 is not my contact number and is being misused alongside my image."
Earlier, Prince Pictures, another reputable production house, also issued a warning about scammers claiming to offer acting roles in their upcoming film, Sardar 2, in exchange for money or other favors.
