Actor Raghav Juyal is set to channel the spirit of Govinda's iconic 1990s comedies in his upcoming film 'Bhai Tera Star Hai', releasing in theatres on 30 July. The actor, known for his role in 'Kill', says the project is a deliberate attempt to bring back wholesome, uninhibited laughter for audiences across India — particularly those from smaller cities.

The Character at the Heart of the Comedy

Juyal plays Ajay Singh, a man who is utterly convinced of his own acting genius despite having little talent to show for it. His delusions of superstardom and spectacularly poor performances consistently land him in absurd situations. The stakes escalate when Ajay finds himself indebted to a powerful don and must scramble to return the money — fuelling the film's central chaos.

"I am excited about Ajay Singh's character in Bhai Tera Star Hai because he considers himself a very big, talented actor. He thinks he will become a huge superstar, but in reality, he does terrible acting. While trying to prove himself through his bad performances, he keeps getting into trouble. There is chaos throughout the film, and he eventually finds himself in a situation where he has to return the money of a powerful don," Juyal said.

Reviving the Govinda Template

Juyal has been candid about the creative inspiration behind the film. He wants to recreate the effortless, broad comedy that made Govinda one of Bollywood's most beloved entertainers during the 1990s — a style defined by impeccable comic timing, expressive physicality, and the ability to wring laughs from ordinary situations.

"Through this comedy, I wanted to bring back the kind of humor we saw in Govinda's films — something for my parents and for boys and girls from small cities. A film where people can laugh freely, laugh wholeheartedly, and enjoy themselves without holding back," Juyal said.

This is a conscious counter-programming move at a time when Hindi comedy has leaned heavily toward dark humour and satirical formats. Juyal's pitch is straightforward: a film the whole family can watch and simply enjoy.

Directed by Vivek B. Agrawal, 'Bhai Tera Star Hai' features an ensemble cast including Niharika NM, Sanjay Kapoor, Barkha Singh, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Vivan Bhatena, Niki Aneja Walia, and Vikalp Mehta, among others.
