Mumbai, April 15 (NationPress) Actor Rajat Verma expressed his sadness over the impending conclusion of his show 'Jamuniya', having only worked on it for a brief two-month period.
“This marks my first experience with a show ending so swiftly. We had merely filmed for two months, so it’s understandable that we all feel a sense of loss, making it challenging to come to terms with,” Rajat shared.
The actor revealed that the entire crew put in considerable effort, yet the abrupt cancellation left them without a proper conclusion to the story.
“Naturally, there are upper management decisions to consider, and the network must also contend with competitors, needing to prioritize what is financially viable. We comprehend their position,” he noted.
Rajat acknowledged that such choices are influenced by market dynamics.
“Ultimately, we are part of the entertainment industry, where decisions are often driven by business considerations. However, for those of us involved in television, the landscape is now quite unpredictable. In the past, shows enjoyed longer runs, but the current environment has shifted dramatically. Audiences today are much more selective; they have various options at their disposal,” he explained.
“If viewers are dissatisfied, they can easily turn to OTT platforms, films, or other television shows. With numerous channels available, viewers have become more discerning.”
He emphasized the necessity of producing content that resonates with audiences.
“I believe it's crucial for our content to be robust. Even if a show has a limited run, creators should aim to conclude the story effectively, treating it as a final series. The emphasis should be on delivering quality content,” Rajat stated.
“In today’s competitive environment, there’s a tendency to focus excessively on the business side, such as how quickly we can achieve profitability, leading to compromises in content quality.”
The actor expressed concern over the current trend prioritizing quantity over quality.
“Yet, I firmly believe that shouldn't be the case. Our team was genuinely striving to produce quality content, but perhaps the channel didn’t receive the desired business response. This unpredictability is disheartening for all of us, and we feel quite sad,” he commented.
Rajat mentioned that he would miss the camaraderie with his colleagues.
“Though work continues, and we’ll transition to new opportunities, what stays with us is the relationships we build with the team. The community formed through collaboration is what I’ll miss the most. The atmosphere on set was truly special,” he reflected.
He added, “The cast was talented, the energy was exceptional, and everyone got along so well. We had become like a family. The content we created was commendable, and our efforts were evident in the ratings.”
Reflecting on his favorite moments from the show, he said, “There are numerous memorable scenes, but one that stands out is when I had to be submerged in a water container. I spent nearly seven hours filming that scene! It was a risky endeavor, but I enjoyed every moment.”
Recalling that specific scene, he continued, “In it, the container fills with water, and I’m depicted as drowning, only to be rescued by Jamuniya. I loved performing that scene; it was exhilarating and visually stunning on-screen.”
“Another cherished moment is the scene where I first meet Ujala. The way that scene was filmed, particularly from a direct perspective, was simply beautiful. I adored that one too.”
Discussing his relationships with co-stars, he mentioned the strong bonds he formed.
“Especially with Aleya, who portrayed Jamuniya from the beginning, we connected during the mock shoot and became close friends. The entire cast and crew shared a warm, family-like bond.”
Rajat described the shooting experience as incredibly enjoyable.
“We always had fun, joking around, and just seeing each other's faces would spark laughter. We played numerous games on set, creating a vibrant and lively atmosphere. Such bonds and energy are rare in this industry,” he noted.
He concluded, “Sometimes, a team like this only comes together once, and you may never encounter that same magic again. I will genuinely miss that aspect the most—our shared connection. It was a remarkable team, and I truly cherished being a part of it.”
