New Delhi, May 14 (NationPress) Rajkummar Rao, a celebrated National Award-winning actor, disclosed that he once contemplated pursuing Science in the 11th grade, influenced by family expectations. However, he now feels grateful for steering clear of that choice.
When asked about a “Bhool Chuk” he made that he appreciates, Rajkummar shared with IANS: “In Class 11, I had a fleeting desire to opt for Science because the environment at home was such that my elder brother and many of my cousins were science students.”
Despite his inclination towards acting, he considered the Science route due to peer pressure. “I have always been passionate about acting—I participated in stage performances, dance, and martial arts—but since everyone else was choosing Science, I thought I should follow suit,” said the actor, who completed his 12th grade at S.N. Sidheshwar Senior Sec Public School, where he took part in school plays.
Now at 40, he expresses relief for not venturing into Science, recognizing that his true interest lies in acting. “Thank God I didn’t go down that road. I had no genuine interest in it, and there would have been immense pressure to study. When your passion lies elsewhere, it can feel like being trapped in a situation you don’t truly want,” remarked the actor, who graduated from Delhi University while engaging in theatre with the Kshitij Theatre Group and Shri Ram Centre in Delhi.
Rajkummar is currently anticipating the release of his upcoming film “Bhool Chuk Maaf,” initially set for May 9, but the makers announced on May 8 that it will now premiere digitally on Prime Video on May 16, due to recent heightened security measures following the Indian Air Force's actions against terrorist sites without breaching Pakistan's airspace.
However, the film's release has been paused as the Bombay High Court granted a temporary injunction preventing Maddock Films from streaming “Bhool Chuk Maaf” on OTT platforms until it fulfills its contractual obligation of an 8-week theatrical run with PVR Inox.
PVR Inox claims that the last-minute decision is a violation of the contract signed on May 6, 2025, which stipulated an 8-week window before any online release.
Directed by Karan Sharma, “Bhool Chuk Maaf” tells the story of Ranjan, a romantic young man from Banaras who secures a government job to marry Titli but forgets his promise to Lord Shiva, leading him to a comical journey of love, fate, and redemption.
