Mumbai, Feb 16 (NationPress) Actor Rajkummar Rao is renowned for immersing himself deeply into every role he undertakes, and his upcoming biopic about esteemed public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam is no exception.

In a recent post on Instagram, Rajkummar disclosed that this particular role has proven to be a physically demanding experience for him.

He mentioned that he needed to gain weight and even adjust his hairstyle to appear visually accurate for the character.

Notably, this is not the first instance where Rajkummar has made substantial changes to his appearance for a role. Previously, he shaved his head for “Bose” and shed a considerable amount of weight for “Trapped”.

“My essence is expressed through my art. I just wrapped up shooting for my next biopic #NIKAM, which has necessitated a physical transformation that I thoroughly enjoy. I prefer not to rely on prosthetics as long as I can achieve the look through hard work, which I have done for Nikam—whether it was putting on weight or appearing older (to depict a certain age) or making my hair thinner, despite my stylist’s objections. People advised me against going half bald for BOSE and against gaining a lot of weight or losing so much for TRAPPED, or even acting like a visually impaired person when the cameras were off during SRIKANTH,” Rajkummar shared on the photo-sharing platform.

“For Nikam, I had to gain around 9-10 kgs, indulging in 2 pizzas, lots of sweets, my favorite Aloo Parathas, and Biryani, while avoiding anything glamorous to accurately portray the role. I hope when you see the film, which is set to release soon, you'll witness all the effort that went into it,” he added.

Now, Rajkummar is diligently working to shed those extra kilos to prepare for his next biopic based on former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly.

“Currently, I’m in the transition phase, focusing on losing this added weight and gearing up to embody Ganguly—our very own Dada.

I am committed to working as hard as possible to engage and entertain you through my craft. Much love,” the post concluded.
