Has Rajpal Yadav Been Granted Interim Bail by the Delhi High Court to Attend His Niece’s Wedding?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Feb 16 (NationPress) Actor Rajpal Yadav, who had turned himself in to the authorities following a Delhi High Court directive regarding several cheque bounce allegations, has been granted interim bail until March 18, 2026.
The actor received this temporary release to attend his niece's wedding in Shahjahanpur. Rajpal Yadav’s attorney informed the High Court that he has provided a Demand Draft of Rs 1.5 crore. Additionally, the actor has been instructed to surrender his passport. The subsequent hearing is scheduled for March 18.
Previously, Rajpal Yadav’s manager, Bhaskar Upadhyay, mentioned that a portion of the debt related to the actor's financial insolvency has been settled. The manager stated that they had requested a delay in Thursday's hearing as the bail application needed responses from the opposing party. He indicated he would consult Rajpal Yadav in jail for instructions on payment and further details.
He mentioned that answers to these queries are expected by Monday. He stated, “The funds invested for the project have not been denied. Historically, the company refused the funds during previous discussions. Negotiations are ongoing regarding the 2012 agreement, of which three months have already elapsed. I can’t comment on who funded Rajpal Yadav; it’s a family issue. I will personally visit him in jail to clarify the next steps. Out of five crores, two and a half crores have been paid; we await the court's decision on Monday.”
The Delhi High Court had mandated the actor to surrender to police concerning a financial irregularity case in which he borrowed funds to produce his film 'Ata Pata Laapata' in 2010 but was unable to repay the loan. In 2018, a magistrate's court sentenced both the actor and his wife to a six-month prison term.
