New Delhi, Feb 3 (NationPress) The Delhi High Court has instructed Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav to report to the designated Jail Superintendent by 4 p.m. on February 4 regarding multiple cheque bounce cases.
A single-judge Bench led by Swarana Kanta Sharma condemned the actor's behavior, emphasizing his continuous failure to meet settlement obligations, even after being given numerous chances.
“The Court believes that the actions of the petitioner no. 1 (Rajpal Yadav) warrant disapproval. In spite of numerous assurances and requests for leniency, he has not adhered to the directives issued by the Court,” said Justice Sharma.
The Delhi High Court was addressing a series of petitions submitted by Yadav and his spouse, contesting their conviction and punishment under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
Justice Sharma took a serious stance regarding the petitioners' conduct, noting that despite the considerable leniency extended over a lengthy period, the settlement sum remained unpaid per the commitments made to the court.
“The Court sees no reason to maintain the leniency previously afforded to the petitioner no. 1,” the Delhi High Court ruled, pointing out that the actor had “consistently violated the commitments made before this Court.”
In its ruling, Justice Sharma highlighted that the sentence imposed by the trial court had been suspended as early as June 28, 2024, after the petitioners indicated a willingness to resolve the dispute amicably with the complainant company, even referring the matter to mediation.

While allowing the release of the funds previously deposited with the Registrar General to the complainant, Justice Sharma granted a brief extension until February 4 for surrender, acknowledging the actor's current professional commitments in Mumbai.
“Nevertheless, in the interest of justice, petitioner no. 1 is mandated to surrender before the relevant Jail Superintendent by 04.02.2026 at 4:00 PM to fulfill the sentence handed down by the trial court,” the Delhi High Court stated.
