Mumbai, Aug 31 (NationPress) Prem Sagar, the esteemed producer and cinematographer who was the son of Ramanand Sagar, has sadly passed away at the age of 82 on Sunday.
He was hospitalized at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, but was sent home on Sunday after doctors recommended his family to take him home following his discharge.
Prem Sagar honed his skills at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, graduating in 1968. He played a significant role in his father’s Sagar Arts production house, which is celebrated for producing the legendary TV show ‘Ramayan’.
Arun Govil, the lead actor of ‘Ramayan’, took to social media to share his condolences, saying, “The news of the passing of Shri Prem Sagar ji, son of the late Shri Ramanand Sagar ji, who brought the dignity, ideals, and teachings of Lord Shri Ram into every home through the Ramayan TV series, is profoundly saddening.”
He continued, “We pray to Lord Shri Ram to bless the departed soul and to provide strength to the grieving family. Om Shanti.”
Actor Sunil Lahri, who portrayed Lakshman in the iconic series, expressed his shock on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying, “Absolutely shocking news; we lost Prem Sagar Ji, son of Ramanand Sagar ji of Ramayan. Om Shanti.”
