Mumbai, Aug 13 (NationPress) Actor and animal enthusiast Randeep Hooda has expressed his approval of the Supreme Court’s choice to reassess its recent ruling concerning stray dogs in the NCR.
The 'Sarbjit' star commended the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India for his willingness to revisit the decision.
In his reflections shared on Instagram stories, Randeep stated: “I am pleased to learn that the Honourable CJI has agreed to reevaluate the ruling regarding stray dogs in the NCR. Enacting a law and enforcing it must first be humane, and additionally, we need to focus on infrastructure and sensitivity.”
He emphasized that while stray dogs represent our “collective community humanitarian responsibility,” they sometimes pose a danger to public safety.
Expressing happiness that the Supreme Court’s recent ruling has sparked a broader dialogue on the issue, he remarked, “I adore animals, but can I rationalize it to a family that has lost a loved one to rabies or has faced serious injuries? No,” he noted.
Nevertheless, the 'Highway 2' actor pointed out that capturing the entire stray dog population may not be practical or effective.
Instead, Randeep advocated for exploring alternative strategies to address the issue, such as large-scale cyclical neutering and capturing aggressive territorial packs.
“This is a feasible long-term solution that will gradually decrease their numbers over the years. Also, adopt as many as you can and take genuine responsibility for them. I know I have,” Randeep concluded.
On Monday, the Supreme Court of India mandated local authorities to capture all stray dogs in Delhi and the NCR within eight weeks and house them in designated shelters to be established by civic authorities.
The SC further specified that none of the animals should be permitted to escape from these shelters.
Randeep has been a strong advocate for animal welfare. The 'Monsoon Wedding' actor has a diverse array of pets, from horses to dogs.
