Mumbai, July 14 (NationPress) Actor and filmmaker Randeep Hooda revealed that while his passion for acting remains strong, he has recently unearthed a profound appreciation for writing, which he deems the most fulfilling aspect of his creative endeavors.
Randeep expressed, “Through the years, I have cultivated a profound passion for writing. It has become the most enriching segment of my creative journey. Acting allows me to embody characters crafted by others, whereas writing grants me the opportunity to mold tales from my own experiences, observations, or fantasies.”
Currently, Randeep is engaged in penning a collection of short stories set in Versova and Aaram Nagar in Andheri, Mumbai. These narratives explore the life of a roadside bansuri wala who sells flutes every Sunday, the struggles of aspiring actors in the city, the grim realities of the casting couch, and various other poignant stories.
The actor-director noted: “Versova and Aaram Nagar have served as quiet stages for human ambition and endurance, and I felt compelled to bring these narratives to life.”
He further elaborated: “Every Sunday, I pass by this bansuri wala, standing at the same spot, playing tunes that often get lost in the bustling sounds of the city. Behind him lies a world filled with hopeful actors, daily challenges, minor victories, and heartaches.”
“Crafting these stories instills in me a sense of purpose and a lens through which to examine the intricate layers of life surrounding us.”
On the cinematic front, he is set to appear in “Matchbox,” an upcoming American action-adventure comedy film directed by Sam Hargrave.
Inspired by the toy brand of the same name, the film features stars like John Cena, Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Arturo Castro, Teyonah Parris, Randeep, Danai Gurira, and Corey Stoll. It is slated for release in the fall of 2026.
He is also involved in “Operation Khukri,” an epic war drama.
Randeep has acquired the official movie rights to “Operation Khukri: The Untold Story of the Indian Army’s Bravest Peacekeeping Mission Abroad” by Major General Rajpal Punia and Damini Punia.
This film will portray the harrowing true events from 2000, when 233 Indian soldiers were taken hostage by rebel forces in Sierra Leone, West Africa, and the high-stakes rescue mission that ensued.
