Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Feb 21 (NationPress) The Mumbai Crime Branch has initiated a Look Out Circular (LOC) against an individual affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, following reports of a threat directed at Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, who has been demanded to pay Rs 20 crore. In light of this, security measures around the actor have been enhanced as the Anti-Extortion Cell investigates the matter.
An FIR was lodged after law enforcement confirmed a voice note where the individual claimed to be Harichandra, also known as Harry Boxer.
According to the Mumbai Police, the Crime Branch has issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Harichandra, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, in relation to the threats made against Ranveer Singh.
The threatening voice note, which was sent to Ranveer Singh’s manager, was forwarded to the Punjab and Haryana Police for authentication. The sender identified himself as Harry Boxer and demanded a ransom of Rs 20 crore.
Upon receiving information about the threatening message, the Mumbai Police passed it along to their counterparts in Punjab and Haryana. After confirming that the voice matched that of Harry Boxer, an FIR was officially registered.
The Mumbai Cyber Police initiated an FIR against Harry Boxer following a complaint from Ranveer Singh’s manager, Vijay Subramanian. The investigation is being conducted in collaboration with the Anti-Extortion Cell of the Crime Branch.
Police revealed that the manager received calls from an international number (+340), likely associated with the Virgin Islands, where the caller allegedly made threats and demanded money.
In response to these threats, security around Ranveer’s residence has been increased, and he has been advised to exercise caution while traveling for film shoots.
Reports indicate that “Boxer” left extensive voice messages warning that if his demands were not fulfilled, “the next seven generations” would face the repercussions.
In the voice note, he purportedly stated: “Ranveer Singh, you reneged on something you promised, fine… either fulfill that commitment, or we will demonstrate the consequences of backing out. This message is for you…”
“Rohit Shetty and you come on the line… and we are informing the entire Bollywood as well… the shooting incident that occurred today in Portugal, I and my associates take responsibility for the attack at ‘Marina Grand’ and at Sukhdev’s shop.”
This marks the second FIR against members of the Bishnoi gang. Previously, on February 1, a shooting transpired outside the Juhu residence of filmmaker Rohit Shetty.
Authorities have thus far apprehended 12 individuals linked to the case, including the alleged shooter Deepak Sharma. Sharma reportedly opened fire at Rohit Shetty’s residence under the direction of the Shubham Lonkar group.
