Chennai, Mar 1 (NationPress) Renowned filmmaker Santhakumar’s Tamil movie ‘Rasavathi –The Alchemist’, starring Arjun Das and Tanya Ravichandran in leading roles, has secured the Best Sound Design award at the London International Film Festival 2025.

Santhakumar, celebrated for his earlier critically acclaimed works, announced the win on his X timeline.

He shared, “Rasavathi (The Alchemist) has won the ‘Best Sound Design’ award in the LONDON International Film Festival. Kudos to Tapas Nayak. #Rasavathi”

Sound Engineer Tapas Nayak’s exceptional work in Rasavathi triumphed over nine other films worldwide. Competing nominations included ‘Nobody Wants to Shoot a Woman’, ‘Black, Queer & Done’, ‘Perfect Meal - My Dear’, ‘Let's Eat Together’, ‘The Chocolate Club’, ‘Culture Vs War. Liberov’, ‘The Therapy’, ‘We Will Not Be Silenced’, and ‘Dawn At Gougane Barra’.

In addition to winning in the Best Sound Design category, Rasavathi –The Alchemist received nominations in five other categories: Best Director of a Foreign Language Film, Best Foreign Language Film, Best Editing of a Foreign Language Film, Outstanding Actor in a Foreign Language Film, and Outstanding Actress in a Foreign Language Film.

Notably, the film only clinched victory in the Best Sound Design category.

In addition to Arjun Das and Tanya Ravichandran, the film features a talented cast including Sujith Shankar, Ramya Subramanian, G.M. Sundar, Reshma Venkatesh, Sujatha, and Rishikanth.

The critically acclaimed film boasts music by SS Thaman, marking the third collaboration between Santhakumar and Thaman.

The film was shot by two cinematographers, Saravanan Elavarasu and Sivakumar, with editing by V J Sabu Joseph. Sathish Krishnan choreographed the dance sequences, with Sivaraj responsible for art direction and Sethu handling sound effects. Tapas Nayak was in charge of sound mixing.
