Mumbai, Jan 3 (NationPress) Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon recently commended the creations of artist Vishal Sablley, especially his captivating representations of women’s figures.
Tandon recently inaugurated Nayika: Recreating the Essence of Feminine by Vishal Sablley, alongside Vastu Mahaguru Basant R. Rasiwasia and notable artists including Kiran Chopra, Om Thadkar, Mamta Sharma, Pravin Gangurde, curator Ritu Chopra, Rutuja Padwal, sculptor Kiran Mahale, gallerist Meenu De, photographer-author Fawzan Husain, and Dr. (Hon) Anusha Srinivasan Iyer.
Vishal Sablley's artwork series beautifully captures the divine essence of women through various representations of Nayikas, or Goddesses, from Indian mythology. This includes revered figures like Durga, Tripura Sundari, Lakshmi, Brahmini, Saraswati, and others, each depicted with elegance and strength.
In a conversation with IANS about Vishal’s art, Raveena expressed, “This moment holds special significance for me. Observing Vishal ji’s work, his portrayal of subjects through his paintings is remarkable. Each piece showcases a unique representation of women—whether it’s Maa Saraswati, Maa Durga, Maa Parvati, or other esteemed female figures. They are represented in various forms, each embodying its own power.”
She further remarked, “As a strong advocate for women empowerment, I find it uplifting that a male artist like Vishal ji has chosen to highlight women in such a meaningful and beautiful manner. As we enter a new year, his introduction of new artworks adds even greater significance.”
The ‘Mohra’ actress continued, “We must honor every woman in our lives. Respecting a woman is akin to venerating Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Ganpati—all embodiments of divine energies. Respect for women brings forth blessings.”
When inquired about her passion for art, Tandon shared, “I have a deep appreciation for all art forms, including painting. I collect and admire works from gifted artists. India brims with artistic talent, yet many artists, such as Vishal ji, often lack the platforms to display their genius. I believe Vishal ji’s work is extraordinary—every painting is a masterpiece. Supporting such talent is vital, which is why, despite feeling unwell, I made it a point to be here. It is essential to support and appreciate artists.”
The exhibition is currently open for public viewing at Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai, running from December 31 to January 6.
