Mumbai, June 30 (NationPress) The talented Rihanna has taken on several roles in the much-anticipated film 'The Smurfs'. Not only is she the voice behind Smurfette, but she also serves as the producer and musical head of the production.
Reflecting on her multifaceted involvement in the project, Rihanna expressed that it was both exciting and demanding.
During global promotional activities, the actress, known for 'Battleship', shared insights about her journey in the film.
"It was invigorating and exciting for me to not just step into a character’s shoes but also to incorporate my musical background into this venture. Collaborating with music producers and choreographers I admire made it a rewarding experience for all involved. It truly challenged our artistic boundaries," Rihanna noted.
She also reminisced about her childhood in Barbados, where 'Smurfs' was an integral part of her mornings. "I often woke up much earlier than necessary just to catch my dose of Smurfs before heading off to school," she recalled.
Rihanna connected deeply with Smurfette's character and her representation. "I have always had a passion for makeup and hair, which Smurfette embodies. She's a strong, independent, beautiful, and empathetic leader. I find her strong personality and love for music—especially hip-hop, reggae, Afrobeats, ballads, and house—very relatable. Smurfette deserves variety in her music too," she expressed.
For inspiration, Rihanna drew from various real-life women, incorporating unique traits from each. "Each of these women has a distinct personality and attitude, and I feel their influence in my life. Smurfette represents aspects of all of us," she concluded.
'The Smurfs' is set to premiere in India on July 18th, available in both English and Hindi.
