Sitaare Zameen Par turns 1: Director RS Prasanna calls Aamir Khan 'an addiction'
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Aamir Khan's sports drama Sitaare Zameen Par marked its first anniversary on 20 June, with director R. S. Prasanna taking to social media to honour the actor he described as far more than a collaborator. The heartfelt tribute underscored what has been, by Prasanna's own account, a transformative five-year creative partnership.
What Prasanna Said
Sharing a photograph with the Lagaan actor on his official social media handle, Prasanna wrote: 'An extraordinary 5 year journey with one of the most brilliant and loving Stars, Actors, Producers and Support Systems. Thanks for everything Sir. You are an addiction for sure :)'
The filmmaker called Aamir Khan a brilliant actor and a complete support system, adding that working with him is 'an addiction for sure.' The post drew wide attention from film circles and fans marking the film's anniversary.
About Sitaare Zameen Par
Sitaare Zameen Par is a spiritual successor to Aamir's landmark 2007 film Taare Zameen Par and an official remake of the 2018 Spanish film Champions. The screenplay was written by Divy Nidhi Sharma, and the film was produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions.
The film follows Gulshan Arora, a suspended basketball coach played by Aamir, who is ordered to complete community service by coaching a team of players with disabilities as they prepare for a tournament. Genelia Deshmukh leads alongside him, while the ensemble features ten newcomers: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
The Creative Team
Behind the camera, G. Srinivas Reddy served as cinematographer, Charu Shree Roy as editor, and the celebrated trio Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy composed the film's music. The combination of a socially resonant story and a technically accomplished crew helped the film carve a distinct identity within Aamir's filmography.
What's Next for Aamir Khan
On the personal front, Aamir Khan is reportedly set to marry Gauri Spratt in what sources describe as a simple registered ceremony at home on 5 July this year, attended by family members and a small circle of close friends. The reports remain unconfirmed by the actor's team.
As the film's first anniversary draws renewed attention to both the project and its star, Prasanna's tribute serves as a reminder of the collaborative depth that, according to those involved, defined every stage of Sitaare Zameen Par's making.
