Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Los Angeles, Feb 24 (NationPress) Actor and comedian Russell Brand has entered a plea of not guilty to two new charges concerning rape and sexual assault. These allegations involve two women and are said to have occurred in 2009 in London, U.K. According to reports from ‘Variety’, Brand has previously appeared in court on two occasions, each time pleading not guilty to earlier charges.
In May 2025, he also pleaded not guilty to incidents involving four women that allegedly transpired between the years of 1999 and 2005. Last month, Brand found himself back in court facing two additional charges of sexual assault and rape, to which he again responded with a plea of not guilty.
On both occasions, he was granted bail. A trial to address the original charges is set for June, and a hearing next month will determine whether the new allegations will be included in this trial. Brand’s legal counsel has requested additional time to prepare for the charges.
Upon arriving at the court, Brand was seen wearing a partially unbuttoned leopard print shirt and a silver cross necklace. He only confirmed his name and plea during the proceedings, and while entering the courthouse, he was photographed holding a bible.
A joint investigation conducted by The Sunday Times and Channel 4 in 2023 revealed that five women accused Brand of rape, sexual assaults, and emotional abuse in the early 2010s. Brand has publicly stated in a YouTube video that he absolutely refutes these allegations.
After gaining fame as a television personality and comedian, Brand starred in films such as ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ and ‘Get Him To The Greek’ before redefining his image as an anti-establishment spiritual figure.
