Mumbai, Dec 10 (NationPress) The dispute surrounding Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 2019 hit track 'Bekhayali' from 'Kabir Singh' has escalated as the music duo Sachet–Parampara released a video accusing composer Amaal Mallik of making false and baseless assertions about the song's origin.
The duo took to Instagram to share their perspective through a detailed video. In their caption, Sachet–Parampara expressed the necessity to address these claims for their mental peace, emphasizing that Amaal Mallik had made repeated assertions that the composition bore similarities to an older piece of his.
“Warning. This video could have been a 10 sec video also proving all rumours false, but for our mental peace, exposing some people was very important. @amaal_mallik SHAME ON YOU AMAAL MALIK,” the caption read.
“Hi everyone, we are Sachet and Parampara, and this issue has become very serious. This involves Mr. Amaal Mallik. We never anticipated that we would need to clarify these matters, but we want to assert that we solely created 'Bekhayali', which Amaal Mallik claims to have composed at an earlier time.”
In the video, the duo insisted that 'Bekhayali' was entirely their creation during music sessions with the 'Kabir Singh' team, which included Shahid Kapoor and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
“We possess all communications with Amaal Mallik and the Kabir Singh team because every melody, arrangement, and lyric was developed with the entire team present, confirming it as a Sachet and Parampara original.”
“Furthermore, Amaal claims that associates connected with the label favored us. However, we were not affiliated with T-Series before 'Kabir Singh'. Amaal has been associated with T-Series since 2015, if I recall correctly.”
The duo noted that Amaal suggested someone had sent his song via WhatsApp, which they found absurd.
“As outsiders, why would anyone favor us? Coming from a small town, why would someone play their song for us to replicate? Seriously, Amaal Mallik? Also, if you believe we have copied your song, why did you congratulate us upon its release? You were the first to text me, saying 'waiting for your song' and...”
“I initiated the conversation without having your number. You reached out to me, expressing excitement about our song and congratulating me on its release.”
The duo presented text messages from Amaal and expressed their disbelief at his current claims.
“It’s unfortunate that we had to resort to this. We question why you feel the need to engage in such actions. If you have evidence for your claims, present it. What you assert in the media is misleading and I feel sympathy for your fans, as they are supporting someone who is not being truthful.”
Parampara acknowledged that Amaal's “older songs are excellent.”
“However, it doesn't justify attacking others when your work isn't performing well. Amaal, when faced with challenges, don't say the grapes are sour.”
“You criticize the industry, but we don't share that sentiment. The industry has provided opportunities to outsiders like us. Your success is a reflection of your work. If you don’t perform well, you won’t receive opportunities, regardless of being an insider or outsider.”
“We believe in hard work and creating our own music. We don’t take credit for others’ work or defame them.”
The duo expressed their disappointment in Amaal's behavior.
“You used to call us frequently. Where did that connection go?”
They reminisced about Amaal's praise for 'Kabir Singh' and how he previously expressed admiration for 'Bekhayali'.
“Why are we facing this after eight years? We created this song in front of Shahid Kapoor and Sandeep Reddy Vanga at their office. We have ample evidence.”
They demanded proof from Amaal regarding his claims and assured they would provide theirs.
“We ask you to clarify your statements. We seek a public apology as your remarks have harmed our reputation.”
“We desire an apology from you publicly, given that you took your grievances to social media. This situation could happen to anyone.”
“Accusations are becoming commonplace. If you accuse someone, it doesn’t automatically mean they are in the wrong. Please pursue the truth.”
The duo emphasized, “Despite not getting certain projects, we don’t criticize or blame the industry. We accept it with grace, learning and working harder.”
“Our work is purely original, regardless of the song. Please do not misrepresent our work as your own. Such claims will not be tolerated, and we will take legal action if necessary.”
