Mumbai, July 13 (NationPress) Actor Sahil Vaid is set to portray SP Amit Verma in the eagerly awaited web series, "The Hunt: The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case."
In a recent conversation with IANS, Vaid reflected on his memories surrounding the tragic event of Rajiv Gandhi's assassination on May 21, 1991.
The actor recounted that he was just seven years old at the time, residing in Tamil Nadu during the assassination of the former Prime Minister.
"I was in Salem, which wasn't too far from the incident. I recall people discussing it, gossiping, and creating their own conspiracy theories," he remarked.
Vaid shared a specific memory: "I distinctly remember a conversation where individuals were speculating about the bomb's location. Someone claimed, 'the bomb was in the garland,' while another said, 'the bomb was buried underground.' This topic dominated discussions for days. It was hard to fathom that such a shocking event could occur, especially in Tamil Nadu. As a young boy, my understanding was limited, but I knew an important figure had been assassinated."
Prior to this, Nagesh Kukunoor, the creator of 'The Hunt', commented on the potential political ramifications of the series.
He stated, "I have made every effort to avoid scenes with political implications. However, in today's world, it's easy for controversy to arise over anything. I have approached this project with utmost sensitivity and have consciously avoided politically charged scenes. Unfortunately, we live in an era where controversy can be generated from almost anything."
The show features a stellar cast, including Amit Sial as D.R. Kaarthikeyan (Chief of SIT), Sahil Vaid as SP Amit Verma, Bhagavathi Perumal as DSP Ragothaman, Danish Iqbal as DIG Amod Kanth, Girish Sharma as DIG Radhavinod Raju, and Vidyut Garg as Capt. Ravindran (NSG Commando). Additional cast members include Shafeeq Mustafa, Anjana Balaji, B. Sai Dinesh, Shruthy Jayan, and Gouri Menon in significant roles.
