Mumbai, July 5 (NationPress) National Award-winning director Nagesh Kukunoor has expressed concerns about the potential political ramifications of his upcoming web series, 'The Hunt: The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case'.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, Kukunoor emphasized his efforts to avoid scenes that might lead to political controversies, noting that contemporary audiences often find reasons to spark debate over any aspect of a production.
He stated, “I have approached this project with care and sensitivity. I consciously avoided moments that could be politically charged. However, we live in an era where controversy can arise from anything. I genuinely hope that doesn’t happen, but that is the reality we face.”
Kukunoor added, “We’ll see how it unfolds. From my end, I have taken every precaution to exclude such elements.”
Adapted from Anirudhya Mitra’s acclaimed book 'Ninety Days', 'The Hunt' delves into a delicate subject, focusing on the intense 90-day investigation following the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
Actor Amit Sial, portraying D.R. Kaarthikeyan, the head of the SIT, described one of the most emotionally taxing scenes in the series.
“In one scene, Kaarthikeyan visits the blast site. There’s no body, just a large patch of dried blood. That imagery lingers with you. It’s not just about losing a person but also the inability to say goodbye. It can unsettle even the strongest individuals,” Sial shared.
Written by Rohit Banawalikar and Sriram Rajan, the series features a remarkable cast, including Amit Sial as D.R. Kaarthikeyan (Chief of SIT), Sahil Vaid as SP Amit Verma, Bhagavathi Perumal as DSP Ragothaman, and others.
