Mumbai, July 10 (NationPress) Amit Sial, who portrays D.R. Kaarthikeyan in the series ‘The Hunt – The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case,’ shared his personal recollections of the heartbreaking incident.
The actor expressed how the emotional gravity of that day has lingered in his memory. Reflecting on the time surrounding the assassination, Sial mentioned being a young teenager in school. Although the visual details may have blurred with time, the emotional climate that engulfed the nation remains vivid in his mind.
In an interview with IANS, when asked about his recollections from the day of Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination, Amit Sial noted that he was approximately 16 years old and in school at the time. While the visual aspects are unclear, he distinctly remembers the pervasive atmosphere of sorrow that settled over the country.
“Yes, absolutely, I recall it. I believe I was in school, around 16 when this occurred. My memories are more about the feelings than the visuals. I can sense how the nation reacted at that moment, how my neighbors felt, and the deep sense of gloom it brought. That’s something I remember quite clearly,” he shared.
When inquired whether he used any real-life references to prepare for his role as D.R. Kaarthikeyan, Amit Sial revealed that he conducted thorough research into the former CBI chief’s life. He indicated that he delved deeply into Kaarthikeyan’s professional history and watched numerous interviews available online to gain insight into his personality, thought process, and investigative approach.
“Yes, I read extensively about Mr. Kaarthikeyan’s life and viewed several of his online interviews. I also examined numerous photographs accessible on the internet. One particular interview was particularly enlightening, as he discussed the case itself and his tenure of service, even though he didn’t delve too deeply into the investigation. That conversation provided me with a solid foundation. Of course, we had the script, which was inspired by the book. Honestly, I didn’t have a lot of time for extensive research, so I heavily relied on Nagesh bhai, the script, a few co-actors, and Mr. Bux, who is remarkably knowledgeable about this case,” he elaborated.
“Regardless, I did as much research as I could because it was a significant responsibility to accurately portray Mr. Kaarthikeyan. At the very least, I wanted my efforts to convey that I genuinely tried to honor the role,” he added.
‘The Hunt – The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case’ is an intense series directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, exploring the complex real-life investigation following the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
