Will Saif Ali Khan and Pratik Gandhi Shine in ‘Hum Hindustani’?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Feb 3 (NationPress) The renowned Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan and Pratik Gandhi are set to grace the screen together in the upcoming streaming project ‘Hum Hindustani’. This film is set against the backdrop of a newly independent India, portraying a group of officials who confront chaos, resistance, and daunting challenges to conduct the nation’s inaugural democratic election, inspired by real-life events.
The creators of Hum Hindustani expressed, "At the core of Hum Hindustani lies one of the most crucial promises of a newly liberated India—the right to vote. Narrating the tale of the country’s first democratic election from the perspective of those on the ground has been both a significant duty and a privilege.”
“This is a narrative of faith, bravery, and collective endeavor that sculpted the nation we recognize today. We are exceedingly proud to bring Rahul Dholakia’s vision to Netflix and to showcase this pivotal chapter of Indian history with the grandeur and ambition it merits, for viewers in India and beyond,” they added.
This marks the inaugural collaboration between Saif and Pratik on screen. While Pratik has steadily built a strong OTT presence over the years, Saif made his streaming debut in 2018 with ‘Sacred Games’, at a time when the streaming industry was still gaining traction in India.
Saif returned to Netflix last year with the streaming film ‘Jewel Thief - The Heist Begins’. Pratik recently portrayed Mahatma Jyotirao Phule in the film ‘Phule’, which stirred significant discussions over censorship.
Additionally, Saif has ‘Haiwaan’ on the horizon, where he will reunite with Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar after 17 years. Their last collaboration was in ‘Tashan’, which was both a commercial and critical failure. ‘Haiwaan’ is produced by KVN Productions in partnership with Thespian Films, jointly produced by Venkat K Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn.
